Fusing together Sharp's original  technologies and know-how, the PC-UM10 is the thinnest and lightest PC in its class, but other important factors such as speedy performance, versatile connectivity, and ergonomics have not been compromised. Combining powerful features with a sophisticated design, the PC-UM10 takes mobile computing to a whole new level.

Ultra-thin, lightweight body thanks to enclosure-integrated display unit

Applying its LCD expertise, Sharp mounted the PC-UM10's screen directly onto the screen enclosure, eliminating the traditional framework required to support the LCD panel. This breakthrough design has enabled an ultra-slim thickness of 16.6 mm (at the thinnest section) and a light weight of just 1.31 kg.

Metallic enclosure and rahmen structure ensures sturdiness

The PC-UM10 is designed for heavy-duty mobile use. The display cover is made of magnesium alloy, while both the upper and lower chassis and frame surrounding the display are made of aluminium alloy. The housing is further reinforced with a rigid magnesium frame inside the unit (rahmen structure).
Note: "Rahmen" is a German word meaning "frame" or "framework"

New retractable keyboard makes typing smooth and easy

Despite its thinness, the PC-UM10 maintains a comfortable 3 mm keystroke and 18 mm pitch thanks to its newly developed retractable keyboard. When the notebook is opened, the keys are raised to provide smooth and easy typing.

Special dye processing provides a wear-proof high-grade metallic finish

Both sides of the PC-UM10's lower body are specially processed to give it a stylish metallic finish. Unlike conventional paint coating methods, this dye process tints the metal itself, which means the surface colour will not wear off over time or be prone to scratches.

Ultra low voltage CPU optimises mobile operation

The PC-UM10's 600Mhz mobile Intel® Pentium® III processor uses Speedstep™ technology to enable optimised performance for the road. When running on battery power, the CPU automatically switches to a lower clock rate, which drastically reduces power consumption, achieving approximately 3 hours* of mobile operation with the standard battery and up to 9 hours* with the optional high-capacity battery.

Note: The standard battery and high-capacity battery cannot be used simultaneously.

12.1-inch low-reflection XGA TFT LCD

The PC-UM10 uses Sharp's proprietary Low-Reflection TFT LCD, which is easy to view even under bright outdoor settings. Anti-glare processing and a low-reflection coating reduce the amount of reflected light, providing a clear, bright display of text and images.
