A8N-VM Series |
|
|
|
Q |
What does Software (Hardware) Memory
Hole option on A8N-VM series mean? When
should I enable or disable it? |
|
|
|
A |
The Software (Hardware)
Memory Hole option is in BIOS setup
under Advanced \ Northbridge Chipset
Configuration \ Memory Configuration.
If you use total 4 GB memory and 64bit
O.S. (e.g. Windows XP 64bit), you will
get total useable memory as 4GB when you
enable it.
If you are not using 64bit O.S., please
leave this option at disabled as
default.
If your CPU can support Hardware or
Software Memory Hole, BIOS will
auto-detect it and show the appropriate
option for you. The difference is that
the memory remapping is controlled by
CPU itself (Hardware) or BIOS
(Software). |

ViiV Technology |
|
|
|
Q |
What are the basic requirements for
enabling Intel ViiV Technology on this
motherboard? |
|
|
|
A |
You will need to fulfil the following
requirements to enable Intel ViiV
support:
1. NCQ must be enabled for both
motherboard and HDD. (regardless of
SATA150 or SATA300 mode, as long as NCQ
can be enabled, then it should be ok)
2. ViiV Driver must be upgraded to
version 1.5 or above.
3. CPU must support dual core. (at
current, Pentium D or Yonah core CPU
required)
4. Audio must support the minimum of 5.1
channel HD-Audio output.
5. LAN chip has to be Tekoa / Vidala/
Ekron from Intel.
6. OS requires MCE 2005 Rollup 2 or
above.
7. IMSM (Intel Matrix Storage) 2.7 or
above required when enable NCQ. |

P5WDG2-WS |
|
|
|
Q |
My PCI-X failed to operate at 133MHz
when I installed one 133MHz card in PCI-X
1 and a standard PCI card in the other. |
|
|
|
A |
According to PCI-X
spec, when two different speed cards are
installed on the same PCI-X bus, both
cards will be forced to speed down to
the speed of the slower card for
allowing both cards to operate at the
same time. Therefore, this is
normal under your configuration.

SmartDoctor Software |
|
|
|
Q |
My SmartDoctor failed to monitor
hardware when updating driver to version
8.04 and above. It can be used as pure
overclocking utility only. Is there
anything I can do to fix this problem? |
|
|
|
A |
Due to a bug in ATI driver between
version 8.04 to 8.24, it created
incompatibility with SmartDoctor. Please
update your VGA driver to version 8.25
or above to fix this problem. |

A8N-SLI SE |
|
|
|
Q |
The default value of VDDR voltage on
A8N-SLI SE is 2.8V which is higher than
the normal VDDR voltage, 2.6V. How can I
fix this problem? |
|
|
|
A |
Please update your BIOS to version 0603
or later to fix this issue.¡iGO¡j |

A8V-XE |
|
|
|
Q |
What's the difference between A8V-X and
A8V-XE? |
|
|
|
A |
The E in A8V-XE means PCI-E x 16
support. You may compare their
differences below:
| Model |
Chipset |
AGP |
| A8V-XE |
K8T890 |
PCI-E x16 |
| A8V-X |

N4L-VM DH |
|
|
|
Q |
The manual of N4L-VM DH states this
motherboard supports two SATA port from
ICH7M DH southbridge. However, at the
same time, I have found Intel stated the
same chipset for being able to support
SATA II (SATA300 + NCQ) in their press
release. What exactly is supported by
ICH7M DH southbridge? |
|
|
|
A |
After confirming with Intel, this is a
mistake made by their marketing team
when they draft their press release last
time. The correct SATA mode supported by
ICH7M DH is actually SATA150+NCQ as
stated in ASUS manual. Intel will
correct this error shortly. |

TS300-E3 |
|
|
|
Q |
Does the SATA RAID in TS300-E3
server support hot spare
feature? |
|
|
|
A |
There are two SATA RAID control
softwares in TS300-E3 server:
LSI Embedded SATA RAID and Intel
Matrix Storage RAID. Intel
Matrix Storage RAID does not
support Hot Spare feature but
LSI Embedded SATA RAID does. In
Configuration Utility of LSI
Embedded SATA RAID, choose
Objects -> Physical Drive,
select a non-RAID HDD as hot
spare HDD from PORT# list and
then press Enter. In the popup
list, select Make Hot Spare to
set the HDD as Hot Spare. |
