| The
Vaio 505F series weighs a mere 2.7lbs (1kg) and is only
0.78" deep The Vaio 505F is the US Kbd flagship model with a Pentium
233MMX CPU and 4.3GB HDD. The 56kbps modem is
now V.90 compatible and up to 128MB of SDRAM is
possible.

However, where the 505F breaks significant
new ground is with the inclusion of a true 1,024 x 768 pixel 10.4" XGA TFT
display - something never before seen in this class of ultraportable.
It has an incredible feel,
and an astonishing look to match because the apparent thinness is compounded and
exaggerated by the large 10.4" active-matrix TFT display.
The Vaio 505 is peppered with lots of
little design innovations. For example, the removable Lithium-ion battery
has been placed along the spine of the display/keyboard interface, thereby rendering
itself unobtrusive. The floppy drive and optional mini-dock each feature space within
themselves to house the cables they are connected to - no more loose cables on your lap.
Sony say they have no plans to sell this
wonderful Notebook in Australia.
